Lessons Learned in 31 Years

A few days ago, I celebrated my 31st birthday! I know, I’m old! haha! I started doing a little reflecting on some of the life lessons I’ve learned in my 31 years of life and thought it might be fun to share some of the things I’ve learned along the way to celebrate. Enjoy!

It’s never too late to pursue a new passion.

No matter how much you say you hate dancing, put on your party pants and go out dancing with your friends every once in a blue moon. If you have the right group of friends, it can be a blast. Just remember to wear comfy shoes!

Don’t ever switch your eye makeup remover. (This one is more a reminder specifically to me because every single time I do this, I end up with an allergic reaction at my eye doctors office!)

Always make time for your friends and family. They are good for your soul…

But also remember to always make time for yourself too. Find your balance.

Remember that life can get busy. Schedule reminders for important days in your friends and families lives (tests, trips, presentations, etc) in your calendar so you always remember to check in with them to wish them luck and  see how everything went.

It’s definitely still okay to eat chicken nuggets for dinner sometimes. Life is all about moderation…

Don’t skip stretching, foam rolling and compression after a run or you will not be a happy camper later.

Life is not always about the destination, but about the journey too. Sometimes the best memories are made in the in between.

Always keep at least a little cash on you because you never know when you might loose your debit card…

Never delete Uber from your phone. You never know when this will come in handy… (Like the time when you were deathly ill and your boss wouldn’t let you take the day off and you were so exhausted by the end of the day that you ended up on the wrong bus and didn’t know how to get home.)

Driving in the HOV lane when you’re the only one in the car will catch up to you eventually. You cannot be invincible for forever.

Really try to give people the benefit of the doubt. This can be so hard but it’s good practice.

Go out of your way to make the new person feel welcomed. They will always remember and thank you for that.

Do small but considerate acts of kindness for someone whenever you can. Sometimes life is hard… help out your peeps when you can to let them know you’re thinking of them and to help lighten their load.
