I’ve recently had the chance to try out a few different Flywheel classes through ClassPass and wanted to share my experience so you know what to expect incase you are thinking about checking it out for yourself. I’ve been dying to try out a Flywheel class ever since I became obsessed with spin classes about a year and a half ago, so finally trying one out was definitely on my list of must do items when I finally moved to Seattle.
Last week I was invited to a ClassPass event at Strala Seattle and since I always love checking out new-to-me classes, I was excited to give it a try. I invited my friend Jenica to join me and we met up after work for a little exercise induced stress release.
I did just enough research to find out that we would be attending a yoga class, but didn’t do any digging after that. I figured I’d been to enough yoga classes by now so how different could this class be from any I’ve attended in the past? Boy was I wrong!
When I walked into my latest ClassPass class and heard that we would be doing a tabata circuit workout, I immediately knew I was in for an intense workout and would be exhausted at the end (Not a bad thing the day before Thanksgiving!). Tabata is a High Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T.) workout that is structured with 20 second intervals of intense effort on one exercise followed by 10 seconds of recovery for 8 rounds. For this class, we paired two exercises together and rotated between them to make a tabata circuit workout. Talk about intense! If you’re anything like me, you’re a little hesitant to check out some of the trendy fitness classes that keep popping up because you don’t want to show up and end up looking silly because you have no idea how to do any of the moves. I always worry that the classes are going to be full of a bunch of jacked up guys that can do the workouts in their sleep and that I will be the only newbie in the class and stick out like a sore thumb. I’ve honestly never had this problem, so I’m not sure where this irrational fear comes from, but I’m working on squashing it for good!
I got the chance to check out a hot yoga class for the first time in years last week, thanks to ClassPass and I wanted to share my experience with you in hopes that it will make checking it out for yourself a little less intimidating. I’ve always loved hot yoga and but stopped going a few years ago because memberships at hot yoga studios can be insanely expensive and I didn’t want to form a habit I couldn’t afford to keep up. When I realized there was a hot yoga studio in my area that participated in ClassPass, I did a little happy dance at my computer and reserved my spot in class immediately.
