Hey there!
I want to share another super easy holiday treat recipe with you today. The inspiration for this came from this recipe, but we tweaked the ingredients a little to make our own version. I like how these are easy to make, but also impressive looking enough to take to a party and wow all your friends!
These are the initial ingredients we picked up to make these, but we didn’t end up using the Delight Fulls chocolate chips because they were too big. I also decided to add coconut into the mix because well, why not? We also skipped the toffee bits. If you’re considering using coconut in your mixture also, it was a little hard to get it to stick to the pretzels. I had to pack it on a little to get it to stick, but it was well worth the extra effort in my opinion!
Basically you can use whatever toppings for these that you want to. I was contemplating making another batch with some combination of mini marshmallows, rainbow sprinkles and chocolate, but I haven’t quite worked out all the details in my head yet on that one!
Here are the steps for making your very own loaded pretzel rods! First, start off by putting your topping mix in some sort of a shallow dish. Then, break your pretzel rods in half. Easy peasy so far, right?
Warm 14 ounces of caramel and 1 tablespoon of evaporated milk on the stove until it’s liquid enough for dipping. Then pour it into a small but deep container so you can dip about half of the length of your pretzel rod in the caramel mixture.
Once you dip the pretzels in the caramel, make sure to let all of the excess drip off before you roll it in your topping mixture. This will help the toppings stick and also allow your treats dry quicker.
Then, place your loaded pretzel rods on wax paper to dry and you’re finished!
See! I told you they were easy to make!
But look how impressive they look on a fancy serving plate!
Now prepare yourself for all the compliments you’re sure to be receiving all night long when you bring these puppies along for the holiday fun!
I hope you all enjoyed our take on loaded pretzel rods. Let me know what you think if you end up trying these out!

Yum! Coconut, chocolate, and salty pretzels–I’m sold!
My favorite holiday treats are special shortbread sandwich cookies that my mother-in-law makes every year. They have buttercream frosting as the filling. They are insanely decadent.
I’m not much of a baker, but I prefer homemade treats. I know, weird. Good thing I have a talented mother-in-law!

Those treats would be so easy to make! The toppings all sound good, but I think I’d even like them if they were only dipped in the caramel sauce.

Very true! You wouldn’t even have to use toppings if you didn’t want to!
