How’s everyone doing this week so far? I know Tuesday is a little late to post a training recap, but I was debating if I should even write this post at all because I didn’t do much training last week. I figured though for the sake of transparency and to make sure I’m not just showing the good on here, but the bad and the ugly also, we should probably dig into what happened last week.
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and took your shoes out for a run or two this weekend. It was insanely hot by Seattle standards last weekend, so my 5 mile long run at noon on Saturday turned out to be a bit more challenging than I had hoped it would be. That’s the good thing about training though is that you’re TRAINING and LEARNING what works for you and what doesn’t.
This weekend I learned that long runs at noon, the heat and sweet potatoes paired with half a banana and some PB for pre run fuel do not mix well. Who would have thought? Definitely not some of the smartest decisions I’ve ever made, but you live and you learn. Right? Anywhoo… I’d definitely rather learn that lesson now than on race day…
Was it just me or did this week seem to go on FOREVER, even though it was a short week? Sheesh. Well at least we’ve made it to Friday and now it’s time to enjoy the weekend! The weather here has been really nice (yesterday I heard it was in the 80’s), so I’ve got my fingers crossed that the nice weather will stick around for the weekend so I can try to get a little Vitamin D going on and not look so scarily pale when wearing anything besides pants!
Yup… this is happening today. Looks like my schedule is all clear now to spend some time catching up with you lovely people! Good thing too, because I have some favorites I’ve been wanting to tell you about all week! Let’s get into it! Continue reading →
Disclaimer: I received product from Nuun Hydration for my participation in this taste test. Nuun also provided the product for this giveaway. I received no other compensation. As always all opinions are my own.
Last week I got an exciting invitation to Nuun Hydration Headquarters in Seattle, WA. For my first task as a Nuunbassador, I participated in a blind taste test of two different versions of four existing Nuun flavors. Nuun is working on improving some of their flavors, so I tasted the current version and the new version and gave my thoughts on which version of the flavors I liked best.
I wasn’t originally planning on doing a year in review recap since I didn’t start A Couple of Dashes until August, but after reading a few by other bloggers (Lake Shore Runner, Meals and Miles and Run Eat Repeat), I decided I would be sad if I didn’t have one to look back at next year. My year was filled with some crazy highs and lows. I lost some old friends and made some new ones, let go of some dreams that could never fully make it to fruition, but also saw some dreams I never could have imagined before come true. So here’s a look back at all the shenanigans I got into in 2014! Let’s get to it!
Can you guys believe it’s now less than a week to Christmas! YIKES! Who still has shopping left to do? I can’t be the only one, so don’t leave me out here hanging guys! I can honestly say I haven’t stepped foot into the mall this year for any of my Christmas shopping so far, since I’ve done most of it online or at Target, but I have a feeling I’m going to have to break down and brave the mall before the season is over and I’m not excited about it.
Anywhoo… let’s get down to business this Friday with my 5 Things Friday list!
