I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and took your shoes out for a run or two this weekend. It was insanely hot by Seattle standards last weekend, so my 5 mile long run at noon on Saturday turned out to be a bit more challenging than I had hoped it would be. That’s the good thing about training though is that you’re TRAINING and LEARNING what works for you and what doesn’t.
This weekend I learned that long runs at noon, the heat and sweet potatoes paired with half a banana and some PB for pre run fuel do not mix well. Who would have thought? Definitely not some of the smartest decisions I’ve ever made, but you live and you learn. Right? Anywhoo… I’d definitely rather learn that lesson now than on race day…
I hope you all have been having a great weekend so far and have fun plans for your bonus day off tomorrow! I have to say, I’m definitely excited to have an extra day off this week. It’s been forever since I’ve taken a day off so this is a much needed break for me. In my opinion, all weekends should be 3 days anyways. That way you get one day to bum around, one day for fun stuff and one day for chores. Am I right or am I right?!?
Not sure if anyone still checks in on my little corner of the blogosphere anymore but I wanted to check in. I know I’ve been horrible about posting recently since life has taken over, but I’ve really been focusing on work and spending as much time with friends and family as possible. I’ve also been struggling about what to post about since my activity level has taken a serious decrease after this. Continue reading →
I hope you all are soaking up the last little bit of your weekend before heading back to the daily grind tomorrow morning. Bleh. Is it just me or are the weekends never long enough?!!? I always feel like I need just ONE.MORE.DAY. But seriously though, can Tuesday become the new Monday?!?
Happy Sunday! Man this has been a crazy busy weekend! I feel like I haven’t even had a break to relax and now it’s almost time to go back to work again. Boooo!!! I hope your weekend has been a little more relaxing than mine has! I guess sometimes you’ve just gotta power through and do what needs to be done, right?
Anyways… let’s move on to something a little more positive. There’s always a huge debate on what “makes” a runner. I’ve touched on it here before when I wrote about what it means to “earn” your race medal but it’s been awhile since I’ve talked about it. When I came across this quote, it seemed like the perfect time to talk about this again. Continue reading →
I’m not gonna lie, that is pretty much going to be me today. It’s hard work to act busy all day on a Friday until it’s finally time to go home! To say that I’m ready for the weekend would be an understatement! I FINALLY got the important phone call I was waiting for so I’ve been pretty much in party-jump-up-and-down-and-do-a-happy-dance mode since yesterday morning! I can’t wait to talk more about it, but I need to cross the “T’s” and dot the “I’s” first! Needless to say, I have a big weekend of 5k’s, family & friend time and planning ahead of me, so I can’t wait to get this weekend started!
Today is the official start of the #NoExcuses challenge! WOOT WOOT. And of course, we’re going to kick things off with some blogging fun for a chance to win awesome prizes! So what is the #NoExcuses Challenge? Here’s a little background information! I’d love it if you joined me in all the fun!
When I first read about the Proud To Be Me Campaign that Kathy at MamaMarathoner was organizing, I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of. When I first signed up, I did it because I thought it would be a good way for me to switch my way of thinking to something more positive and self-loving. Now, after reading the reason that Kathy started this campaign, I realized this was more important than I originally thought and much bigger than just shifting my way of thinking about myself. I hope that in participating in this challenge, I will not only start to shift my way of thinking and learn to love and appreciate myself and the things that make me special, but also inspire you all to think of yourself in a more positive light too.
Happy Thursday everyone! I hope you all have been having a great week so far and have some fun things planned for your weekend!
Today, I wanted to talk about something a little more serious than normal. A lot of things in my life have changed lately and it’s left me with a lot of questions I have been trying to figure out the answers to. Because of that, I’ve been spending a lot of time on The Daily Love and reading “Daily Love: Growing Into Grace” by the creator of The Daily Love, Mastin Kipp looking for direction and inspiration.
