This recap has been a long time coming but better late than never right?!!? Late in the afternoon last Saturday, Carleeh sent me a text saying that she had an extra bib for The Beats 10k that evening and asked if I wanted to join her. So I thought “Why not agree to an impromptu 10k starting in around 2.5 hours?” so I said yes! We agreed that we were going to just be running for fun and taking breaks whenever we needed to so I felt comfortable taking this on even though my current longest distance had been around 3 miles before the race.
I haven’t officially announced this on here yet but after running The Beats 10k last weekend, I decided to commit to training for a half marathon later this summer. Now since I’m still rehabbing from an injury that I’m definitely ready to be done dealing with, I know I won’t be crushing any crazy times with this half. This training cycle is more about actually getting back to doing what I love and just finishing the race.
I’ve talked a little bit about this race in my posts this week, so I’m excited to finally talk more about this with all of you. The United Relay of America is unlike any race I’ve ever heard of before. It’s a triple-route coast-to-coast non stop running relay. For the first time in history, three unbroken chains of runners will relay nearly 12,000 miles across the United States.
This week has been a lot of fun but also really odd. Let me explain…
I’ve done a ton of fun things like meet up with Jenica for an impromptu dinner, ran my first 5k in FOREVER with some Sweat Pink friends (more on this later) and had some going away parties and happy hours with work friends. It’s all been a little surreal though since the going away parties and happy hours have been for me. I know shocker…
Not sure if anyone still checks in on my little corner of the blogosphere anymore but I wanted to check in. I know I’ve been horrible about posting recently since life has taken over, but I’ve really been focusing on work and spending as much time with friends and family as possible. I’ve also been struggling about what to post about since my activity level has taken a serious decrease after this. Continue reading →
So I know I might be falling a little behind on my blogging game right now, but I wanted to take some time to bring you something awesome! I can’t wait to share it with you! ❤
‘Tis the season when the temperatures start to drop and your calendars are full to the brim with social events. There’s definitely not a lack of fun to be had and because of that, our fitness routines tend to suffer.
Not sure how you guys feel, but I’m definitely not ready for the weekend to be over. I had a blast visiting with my family, reconnecting with old friends and catching up with friends I haven’t seen in a couple of weeks because of life craziness. There’s honestly nothing better than spending time outside enjoying the beautiful fall weather that Seattle has to offer with awesome people.
Since I’ve got quite a few pictures to share, I’m going to keep the commentary down to one sentence per picture. As always, I’m linking up with Tara at Running N Reading, Katie at Healthy Diva Life and Erin at Her Heartland Soul for their weekend recap linkups. If you have a blog, consider linking up your weekend recap posts too and/or stop by to read what others did over the weekend! So now let’s get into it! Continue reading →
After spending the day cheering for Jenica during the Rock n Roll Seattle Half Marathon back in June, I decided to finally commit to completing another half marathon. This race has always been on my bucket list, but being there for the festivities while not being able to participate due to an injury, really lit a fire under me to make this dream a reality in 2016. Since the entry fee for 2016 was only $50 during the week following the race, I decided to take the plunge and register.
I know… I know… I’m checking in pretty late for Friday Favorites. I got off work a bit early today and really had the urge to write a blog post, so here we are. I’ve really been struggling to keep up with blogging on a regular basis, as I’m sure you can tell, since I’ve moved and started a new job but I’m not giving up yet.
Being a part of the blogging community is something that I really enjoy and it makes me happy, despite the fact that I usually can’t fathom staring at a computer screen any longer by the time I make it home at the end of the day. On top of this being something that I enjoy, I’ve recently started to realize that it is actually something that means something to other people. Who knew?!?!
