Beats Half Marathon Training – Week 5 (if we can actually even call this one training…)

Hello everyone!

How’s everyone doing this week so far? I know Tuesday is a little late to post a training recap, but I was debating if I should even write this post at all because I didn’t do much training last week. I figured though for the sake of transparency and to make sure I’m not just showing the good on here, but the bad and the ugly also, we should probably dig into what happened last week.

Beats Half Marathon Training – Week 4

Hello my lovelies!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and that you were able to log some outside miles! I had a pretty abnormal week of training this week. I was hosting some fitness classes for a board I’m on at work so I spent my cross training days working out in a new-to-me gym, trying out some dance fitness classes and meeting up with a local running group. All the changes seemed to throw everything off a little, making my runs this week seem a little harder than normal for me. Needless to say, I’m ready to get back into my normal routine this week. Beats Half Marathon Training – Week 3

Hey there!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and took your shoes out for a run or two this weekend. It was insanely hot by Seattle standards last weekend, so my 5 mile long run at noon on Saturday turned out to be a bit more challenging than I had hoped it would be. That’s the good thing about training though is that you’re TRAINING and LEARNING what works for you and what doesn’t.

This weekend I learned that long runs at noon, the heat and sweet potatoes paired with half a banana and some PB for pre run fuel do not mix well. Who would have thought? Definitely not some of the smartest decisions I’ve ever made, but you live and you learn. Right?  Anywhoo… I’d definitely rather learn that lesson now than on race day…

Beats Half Marathon Training – Week 2 + Discount Code

Hello everyone!

I hope you all have been having a great weekend so far and have fun plans for your bonus day off tomorrow! I have to say, I’m definitely excited to have an extra day off this week. It’s been forever since I’ve taken a day off so this is a much needed break for me. In my opinion, all weekends should be 3 days anyways. That way you get one day to bum around, one day for fun stuff and one day for chores. Am I right or am I right?!?

Beats Half Marathon Training – Week 1 + Spin Tabata Workout!

Photo here.

Hello Everyone!

I haven’t officially announced this on here yet but after running The Beats 10k last weekend, I decided to commit to training for a half marathon later this summer. Now since I’m still rehabbing from an injury that I’m definitely ready to be done dealing with, I know I won’t be crushing any crazy times with this half. This training cycle is more about actually getting back to doing what I love and just finishing the race.

My Aha Moment and Weekly Workout Recap Confessional

After spending the day cheering for Jenica during the Rock n Roll Seattle Half Marathon back in June, I decided to finally commit to completing another half marathon. This race has always been on my bucket list, but being there for the festivities while not being able to participate due to an injury, really lit a fire under me to make this dream a reality in 2016. Since the entry fee for 2016 was only $50 during the week following the race, I decided to take the plunge and register.

Rock n Roll 2016, Food Trucks and Yoga for Runners

There was a lot that was inspiring about experiencing all the excitement surrounding the Rock n Roll Seattle Marathon/Half Marathon last weekend. It’s inspiring to see people working hard to reach their goals, it’s inspiring to see people refusing to give up and it’s inspiring to see people making fitness less of a chore and more about having fun. That being said, it’s hard to be all around that inspiration without getting wrapped up in it yourself. Continue reading

5 Things Friday – The Bachelorette, Chocolate Chai and More!

Happy Friday Everyone!

Was it just me or did this week seem to go on FOREVER, even though it was a short week? Sheesh. Well at least we’ve made it to Friday and now it’s time to enjoy the weekend! The weather here has been really nice (yesterday I heard it was in the 80’s), so I’ve got my fingers crossed that the nice weather will stick around for the weekend so I can try to get a little Vitamin D going on and not look so scarily pale when wearing anything besides pants!

Sometimes Life Gives You Froyo…

Hello Lovely People!

I hope your Tuesday is off to a good start so far. Some of you are probably out getting your runch right as I’m posting this. Kudos to you for making the most of your time! I really need to get on this bandwagon too. In case you were wondering, those last two sentences were brought to you by me needing to find a way to incorporate my new favorite word “runch” into a sentence! It’s just so fun to say! You’re welcome for introducing me to your new favorite word! Anywhoo… enough babbling! Let’s get to it! Continue reading

Power through the bad to get to the good.

Hello Lovely People!

Happy Thursday! Is it just me or does it seem like this week has flown by? I can’t believe it’s almost the weekend again! I haven’t even had a chance to make plans yet! Yikes! Better get on it! I do know I will be making a trip up north to pick up my packet for the Hot Chocolate 5k next weekend that my mom and I are planning on walking together and my friend, Jenica, will also be there running. I’ve been wanting to participate in this race for years now, so even though I’m not going to be running it, I’m still happy to be there with the people I love and get some sweet swag in the process!
