My Top 10 Healthy Living Hacks

Hey there! Today I want to talk about healthy living life hacks. Life hacks are tools or actions that are meant to make life easier and/or more efficient according to Urban Dictionary (quality source of reference, I know!). We all know that when life starts getting busy, our healthy eating and exercise routines are usually the first to go, it’s important to make healthy living choices that are effortless and easy to implement even when we’re crazy busy. That’s why I was so excited to read that todays’ blog topic for The Fit Dish linkup with Jessica at The Fit Switch and Jill at Jill Conyers was Healthy Living Hacks! I love sharing my healthy living hacks with anyone who will listen and love to hear hacks from others so I can’t wait to see what everyone has to share today! So without further ado… let’s get into it! Processed with Moldiv

  1. Add spinach to things you wouldn’t necessarily think to. I love adding spinach to premade soups and scrambled eggs for added nutritional value.
  2. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. This is one of those tried and true tricks that I’m sure just about everyone will mention but I still couldn’t leave it off. Adding stair climbing and increased elevation to your daily movement is always a great idea!
  3. If you drive, park farther away from where you’re going and walk or if you take public transportation, get off the bus a few stops earlier than the one closest to where you’re going and walk the rest of the way. I do this a lot on my rest days or days when the weather is really nice and I don’t mind  a few more minutes of walking outdoors.
  4. Always carry a water bottle and a healthy snack. This will help you stay on track with your daily water consumption and avoid reaching for unhealthy snacks when the munchies hit.
  5. Going with #4, add fruit to your water to help switch it up a little. This is a great way to feel like you’re treating yourself without the guilt. Some of my favorites are orange water and cucumber water!
  6. Stay away from the inside aisles at the grocery store. This is where most of the processed food live so the more you can get from the outside edges of the grocery store (where produce, meat and dairy are usually kept), the better off you will be.
  7. Incorporate movement into your daily activities with friends and family. Get your friends to join you for a fitness class, take family walks after meals and/or walk your pets together. If you make fitness fun, you won’t dread doing it.
  8. Invest in some quality pieces to build out your workout wardrobe. Having cute outfits make you more likely to be excited to go workout. Doing this doesn’t have to break the bank though. Stores like Target and TJ Maxx have a great selection of workout clothes at reasonable prices!
  9. Try a new-to-you fitness class to get you excited! Services like ClassPass give you access to hundreds of classes a month for you to try so you’ll never get bored!
  10. Don’t skip three days of workouts in a row. On days when you don’t feel like working out, just try a quick 10-15 minute workout. Anything is better than nothing and most of the time, you’ll continue your workout once you’ve hit the 15 minute mark! Looking for a guided 10-15 minute workout? Yoga with Adrienne and barre3 (online classes) offer short videos to help you work through your funk.

  1. I love all of these! :] I implement a lot of them already, but I like the idea of #10! It goes with the “what you can, when you can” philosophy that I’ve pretty much adopted into my life.

I hope to live somewhere close enough to a place where I can try out ClassPass someday!

  2. I LOVE #10. What a great way to look at staying active, while keeping it very manageable. Just don’t miss 3 days in a row. Add that to your other tips, and boom, that’s a healthy lifestyle. : ) And, my hubby is so adamant about no spinach in his smoothies, it’s crazy to me. ‘You can’t even taste it,’ I say. But…I have yet to make one he likes WITH it. Arg. lol

    • Thanks so much! I’m. Glad you liked my list! And I completely agree, it’s a great way to keep exercising very manageable! That’s crazy that he can still taste the spinach in his smoothie! It’s undetectable to most unless you add a ton!

Thanks for hosting and have a great week!

  3. Great list!
I always tell people I work with, if they can’t find time to workout, the least they can do is park in the back lots of the parking lot and walk the extra into work, every little bit helps!
Love #10 too, missing more than 3 days can start to ruin good workout habits and it’s harder and harder to start them back up the longer one goes! love all your tips actually!

    • Awww thanks so much! I completely agree! It’s a slippery slope once you hit 3+ days without a workout. I’ve been getting off the bus a few stops earlier lately on days that I’m not working out to get in some extra steps and take advantage of the sun!

    • Thanks so much! It’s always so hard to get back into it after missing a few days in a row so I try not to if at all possible! Hope you’re having a great week so far!

  4. Inside aisles and spinach…awesome healthy life hacks! My daughter and I had a conversation about the inside aisles last weekend when we were grocery shopping. She’s an inside aisle kind of eater but she saw the point I was making and she thinks her mom is brilliant ha!

    Great post Tricia! #fitfamlove xoxo

    • Well your daughter is right because you ARE brilliant! I love that you’re educating her so she will be able to make good decisions when she goes out on her own.
