Happy Friday Everyone!
Was it just me or did this week seem to go on FOREVER, even though it was a short week? Sheesh. Well at least we’ve made it to Friday and now it’s time to enjoy the weekend! The weather here has been really nice (yesterday I heard it was in the 80’s), so I’ve got my fingers crossed that the nice weather will stick around for the weekend so I can try to get a little Vitamin D going on and not look so scarily pale when wearing anything besides pants!
I seem to be completely incapable of dressing appropriately for the weather for some reason. When we had a hot spell a few weeks ago, I ended up wearing a running jacket, jeans and boots to work and today I wore a sweater, white jeans and ballet flats. I’m going to blame being completely out of touch with the weather and current events on not having a TV and having shotty at best internet service (thanks Comcast). But seriously though… is there anything more frustrating than having your shows stop constantly to load when streaming or having a website take 5 million years to load? Puh-leeze! Ain’t nobody got time for that! But I digress…
Since today is Friday, this is usually where I talk about some of my favorite things from the week that I want to share with all of you, so let’s get into it!
1. The Bachelorette
Though I’m not a huge Kaitlyn fan, there is something kind of fun about watching completely delusional people make a fool out of themselves on national TV.
Can we talk about Britt and Brady? Does anyone find it absolutely weird that they keep throwing in clips of their dating life now that they’ve both left the show? Honestly what is the likelihood that Britt would fall for the ONE guy who left the show when she wasn’t chosen as the next Bachelorette? It’s just too weird. I’m still also really distracted by the fact that her hygiene is less than awesome and wonder how Brady deals with her smelly, I don’t shower but I cry all the time self! Ugh…
My favorite part so far was the improve date though when JJ kept saying how he was smarter than 99% of the people there so they wouldn’t get his jokes and Amy Schumer shut… him… down… BURNED! Where do they find these people?!?
2. run ride hydrate virtual event with nuun
I received the most exciting email yesterday afternoon; nuun hydration is putting on their first annual virtual 5k/10k/15m ride event for nuun athletes and nuunbassadors in the month of July!
Since the 5k and 10k are pretty much out of the question for me right now, I signed up for the 15m bike ride and told myself that I must actually complete this on my real bike outside and get over the trauma of my handlebars not being properly tightened the last time I attempted to ride it. I’m super stoked to add my first race bib and medal for a bike racing event to my collection, so I’m really looking forward to this!
My fellow nuun athletes in Seattle are really representing right now and we’re at the top of the leaderboard for most participants per area! Are any of you participating too?!?!
3. barre3 anywhere challenge for June
I’ve recently become obsessed with barre3 so when I saw they were doing a challenge for the month of June, I couldn’t wait to sign up. I love the fact that they offer online workouts to do anywhere as a part of this challenge so it’s much easier and less stressful to fit into a busy schedule (and not to mention MUCH less expensive than attending classes).
The challenge consists of four 60 minute barre workouts (either in the studio or online) a week, one 10 minute outdoor workout and trying one summer barre3 recipe. Sounds awesome to me! I’ve already got my pretty pink weights ready to go!
4. Blue Apron Peanut Sauce Thai Noodle Dish Recipe
I’ll be the first to say that I am not a huge fan of Blue Apron. It’s a little more high maintenance way of cooking than I prefer since I usually opt for dishes that take maybe 15 minutes to make and most BA recipes take at minimum 30 minutes and like I said before… Ain’t nobody got time for that. But when a surprise BA shipment showed up on my doorstep, compliments to me thinking I cancelled the service, when I actually didn’t, I decided to make the best of it and give the recipes a go.
It’s taken 4 recipes, but I’ve finally found one that I enjoyed and would eat again! SCORE! I definitely won’t be rushing to sign back up for shipments, but I’m glad it slightly redeemed itself with this recipe!
5. Iced Soy Chocolate Chai
Game changer! I’m officially obsessed with this drink and love picking it up for an afternoon pick-me-up from time to time at the small coffee shop a few blocks away from my office. Since it’s really just mixing a few simple ingredients together, I’m pretty sure this would be possible to recreate at home also, so I’ll report back on that soon!
