Friday Favorites – Lake Days, Adventure Runs, Books and More!

Happy Friday Party People!

Is it just me, or did it seem like it took FOREVER to make it to Friday this week? But seriously… it was like an eternity. Now that Friday is finally here, I think this pretty much sums up my feelings on going to work this morning. Tell me I’m not alone in this…

Because inevitably work on a Friday ends up a little like this…

But thankfully, the end is near and pretty soon it’ll look more like this…

Okay, maybe I took that a little too far, but I just couldn’t help myself. Picking the perfect combination of funny Friday graphics is hard work people so you’re welcome!

Anywhoo… enough with that tangent and on to what we’re here for today. These are always some of my favorite posts to read each week because I love to read what everyone is loving. So brought to you by me having to jump on the bandwagon, here’s my five favorite things this week! Enjoy!

close to the lake.

I guess I’ve been spoiled by living close to some body of water my whole life, so it ‘s not surprising that one of my favorite things about my new apartment is it’s close proximity to Greenlake. I went there two weekends ago with Jenica for a morning walk around the lake and loved every minute of it!

2. That Adventure Run season is back in full force!

IMG_5470

One of my favorite activities during the spring/summer months is the Adventure Run so when the first run of the season was scheduled to take place this month, I couldn’t have been any more excited. Well… I guess I could have if I would have actually won something but it was still tons of fun anyways!

3. Having fresh flowers in my apartment.

IMG_5510

Remember when my parents sent me flowers just because they’re awesome? Yeah, I’m digging having fresh flowers around and plan to keep it up.

4. My new wallet!

IMG_5494

I’ve been on the lookout for a new wallet with a wrist strap that could also fit my cellphone inside of it so when I found this peach colored wallet on my trip to Snohomish with my mom and aunt last weekend, I snatched it up! Now if finding exactly what I was looking for isn’t awesome enough, the price tag made it that much better. It was under $20! Can you say score?!?!

5. Audio books.

IMG_5530

Since I’m walking around the city a lot now or commuting back and forth from work on the bus, I’ve been listening to a lot of audio books lately. I’m currently listening to “Luckiest Girl Alive” by Jessica Knoll (thanks to Tara at Running N Reading for the recommendation!) and would HIGHLY recommend “Big Little Lies” by Liane Moriarty, “The Girl on the Train” by Paula Hawkins and “The Husband’s Secret” by Liane Moriarty. They are all suspense stories with an ending that I didn’t see coming. I listen to my audio books through the Audible app, but there are various other services like this to choose from.

 Questions of the Day:

What are you currently reading (or listening to)?

What are your favorite things this Friday?

Do you have fun plans for the weekend?

  1. Hey, thanks for the shout-out, chica! I hope you’re enjoying the book; I really liked it! I’m currently reading Things You Won’t Say by Sarah Pekkanen; it’ll be coming out soon and should be a good summer read. I LOVE your flowers!!! Wow! Your parents are awesome; can I borrow them sometime? 😉 I also really like your wallet; that is precious! OH! I’ve also just received a notification from my library that Yes, Please by Amy Poehler is available for me in the audiobook version; I’ve been in line on the library waiting list for weeks, so tomorrow’s long run just got a lot more interesting! I hope you have an awesome weekend, Tricia!

    • Of course! Thanks for the book recommendation! 😀 that sounds like a fun book too! I’ll have to check it out. You read much faster than me, but definitely manage to get a few audiobooks in a month.

I’ve never listened to books when running, but I definitely think I need to start giving that a try. Do you know if there is a way to get audiobooks from the library digitally on your phone? I’ve been spending a small fortune on them lately, even with my audible membership.

And THANK YOU! They are pretty awesome! I’m very lucky! I’m sure they’d be happy to take you in too! 😀

      Have a great weekend lady!

      • Tricia, see if your library uses Overdrive (it’s an online system where you can download ebooks and audiobooks for a specific “loan” period) or some other digital system. My library uses Overdrive and they have an app for iPhones and Android phones so that you can download audiobooks to listen to on the go; it’s great! I listened to some of Amy Poehler’s book, Yes, Please, on my phone during my run yesterday and it was great!

        • Thanks so much for the tip! I will have to look into that! 🙂 I know Molly read Amy Poehler’s book and really enjoyed it so maybe now that I have two positive recommendations, I’ll have to try it out for myself! I hope you have a great weekend!

  2. Favorite things this week is my mother-in-law being here to help with the kiddos. I’m getting so much done. Productivity has been halted for so long.
Now it’s time to take advantage of her generosity. Love that little wallet. Super cute and just a perfect prices tag. Reminds me that I need a new wallet.

  3. My favorite thing is the weekend and my daughter’s team doing relay for life a school. It’s interesting how a groups of teens take this so seriously. They have fun but they also see the significance of the event.

Have an awesome weekend Tricia! xoxo
