Power through the bad to get to the good.

Hello Lovely People!

Happy Thursday! Is it just me or does it seem like this week has flown by? I can’t believe it’s almost the weekend again! I haven’t even had a chance to make plans yet! Yikes! Better get on it! I do know I will be making a trip up north to pick up my packet for the Hot Chocolate 5k next weekend that my mom and I are planning on walking together and my friend, Jenica, will also be there running. I’ve been wanting to participate in this race for years now, so even though I’m not going to be running it, I’m still happy to be there with the people I love and get some sweet swag in the process!

I had quite the eventful day yesterday since we had a big meeting at work and had to travel up north to our main office to take part. Of course we still kept our Wine Wednesday celebration alive and well, even though we were away from our normal restaurants of choice!

On the way home we spotted the very first ever Seattle PD on horse we’ve ever seen. The horse was beautiful and had it’s own badge on it’s harness (I’m not sure if that’s the proper term for it but hopefully you get the point!) Everyone was stopping to take photos of it, so I guess we weren’t the only ones taken by surprise!

After work, I was in a bit of a hurry to get to the gym so I grabbed some clothes and ran out the door. It wasn’t until I was half way to there that I looked down and realized what I decided to wear… polka dots and stripes. Looks like it’s time to do laundry!

I met up with my friend, Uyen, to play attempt to play racquetball (this was preapproved by my physical therapist, of course). My PT thought it would be a good activity to strengthen my upper and lower muscles that were weakened in my accident. Turns out rapidly turning my head around to track a ball and swinging a racquet doesn’t really agree with my upper back and neck right now. It also really seemed to aggravate my elbow injury (a weird injury also in relation to my accident), so we stopped. My physical therapists really want me to be able to get back to normal as soon as possible, so they are usually up for me trying different activities to see how it feels so we can discuss what hurts, what didn’t and adjust my treatment accordingly. They’re awesome!

I also was reminded why I never played organized sports in school. I’m highly uncoordinated and highly freaked out by things flying at my face. This is me…

So we headed to the dreadmill instead.

My songs of choice for my run were “Lips Are Movin'” by Meghan Trainor…

“Centuries” by Fall Out Boy…

and “One Last Time” by Ariana Grande.

I was able to up my mileage to a full mile today which was awesome! It wasn’t without pain though. My knee and hip were acting up and I’ve had the absolute worst headache for the last two days, but I’ve come a long way from where I was two months ago, so I just need to focus on that and forget about the rest because I can’t change it. I think that’s the best way to look at it, right?

Even though my workout wasn’t necessarily a pretty one last night, I still powered through and made it happen! You’ve gotten power through the bad ones to get to the good ones, right?

I think this holds true in other aspects of life, too. Well at least I hope they do because otherwise, what else do we have to look forward to when things get a little rocky?

Questions of the Day:

Was your last workout a good one or a bad one? What’d you do?

Do you have a weekly tradition with your coworkers? What is it?

Am I the only one completely uncoordinated when it comes to sports? Please tell me I’m not!

  1. Its so true sometimes you have to power through the bad to get to the good!!! I agree this week has just flown!
My last workout was an 11 mile run, and thrilled to say the furthest I have run since I had to take a layoff for a work injury:)

  2. I want a horse! Back when I was in grad school, there was a Mounted Patrol where students basically acted as campus security…on horseback!!! I so, so, so wanted to apply for it, but grad school obligations kept a pretty tight leash on me. ;_; so sad!!

You are definitely not alone! I am completely uncoordinated! I catch racquetballs with my face!

  3. Definitely power through. Not all workouts can be good. You need to just press on and move forward! Great playlist too!

  4. We play two truths and a lie at work, but otherwise I don’t see my coworkers much outside of work. They’re all older men, so it makes sense.

I love post treadmill workout selfies. I am totally uncoordinated too.

  5. Love the songs you shared! I have the Meghan Trainor song on my playlist already, but not the other ones 😉
No challenges with co-workers, I’m self employed and work from home.
I worked out today, ran 5 miles at the gym and lifted some weights-it was a good workout!
