Weekend in Review: My first acai bowl, chocolate chip pancakes and all of the movies.

Hey there!

I hope you all had a great weekend and were able to enjoy some down time with your loved ones. Today actually marks the first day that I have left the house for something other than a doctors appointment or a visit to the ER, so YAY! Normally, curling up in my pajamas with my puppy and a good movie sounds like a great way to unwind from a long week, but after doing that for an ENTIRE week, I was starting to go a little stir crazy!

Since my weekend wasn’t full of any exciting adventures to share with you all, I thought I’d share some of my exciting eats from the week, a funny but true text from a friend and a list of all the movies I watched over the past few days, complete with ratings so you can decide if you want to watch them or not! So let’s get into it!

After reading about all of the deliciousness that is acai bowls online, I was really excited to hear that the Jamba Juice by my house just recently started serving them! Since my parents happened to be in the neighborhood, I convinced them to stop in and pick up one for me to try and it was just as delicious as I thought it would be! Mine was topped with bananas, blueberries, coconut and granola. I might be slightly addicted to these now, so good thing Jamba Juice just ran a Groupon, because I know I will be enjoying many of these in the near future!

I know this photo doesn’t look as amazingly delicious as what you would expect from a chocolate chip pancake, but I was too busy eating them as soon as they came out of the pan to get a photo of them when they were finished to share with you. I think chocolate chip pancakes may be the ultimate comfort food. Good thing I had a couple left over so I can heat them up for breakfast tomorrow! YUM!

I’ve been feeling a little down these last couple of days. I attribute it mostly to having to much time on my hands. I’m used to constantly being on the go, so basically sitting still for a week has been a little rough. I was talking to one of my good friends about it and her response made me laugh so hard that I just had to share! Sometimes friends know exactly what to say to make you smile. That’s why friends are so awesome.

Now on to all of the movies I watched during the time I’ve been held captive at home injured and my thoughts on if they are worth your time to check out or not.

Source here.

The Interview– MUST WATCH. Given all of the controversy around this movie, I feel like this is something you have to watch, even if it’s just out of curiosity. It was still a typical Seth Rogan/James Franco movie, so don’t expect anything different, even though it’s been making headlines.

If I Stay – WATCH. I was expecting this movie to be a little different than it actually turned out to be, but it was still really well done. It wasn’t the typical love story type movie the previews made it out to be, but still worth checking out. It made me cry like a baby though, so you’ve been forewarned!

Begin Again– WATCH. I actually didn’t know much about this movie before I watched it, but it’s definitely worth checking out. I’m going to be 100% honest with you though, I was on A LOT of pain meds when I was watching this one, so I don’t remember a ton about it besides liking it.

22 Jump Street– DON’T BOTHER. Is Channing Tatum hot? YES. Is this movie worth watching? No. End of story.

The Other Woman– WATCH. Cute and funny!

12 Dates of Christmas– WATCH. It’s your cute typical Christmas love story, but I liked it so much, I watched it twice.

Tammy– WATCH. I thought this would be one of those movies that showed all of the funny parts in the previews, but I was pleasantly surprised!

Chasing Christmas– DON’T BOTHER. There are plenty of other good Christmas movies out there.

Left Behind – DON’T BOTHER.

Mom’s Night Out – WATCH. Surprisingly funny!

Single Mom’s Club- WATCH. Also surprisingly cute and funny!

Questions of the Day:

  1. I love that you watched all of those movies this weekend. And even better so straight out told me what to watch! Love when people take the guessing out of things for me. And yes, Channing Tatum is hot and I still might have to watch the movie to see it on my tv!

  2. I have been wanting to try an acai bowl for sometime now because everyone talks about them but I haven’t bought a packet to make one at WF. Great to know Jamba Juice makes them – I am going to treat myself to one next week when I get back in the city 🙂 Happy Tuesday!

    • I didn’t know they made a packet to make your own at WF! Is it in the premade food section or somewhere else? I’m definitely going to have to pick one up the next time I am in the city! Let me know what you think of the ones from Jamba. Here’s the link to the Groupon so you can get a discount because one medium sized one is $8 and the groupon is good for 3 and only $10.50! http://www.groupon.com/deals/jamba-juice-co-seattle

  3. Okay, I’m glad to hear that I should NOT waste time on “Into the Storm;” almost rented that one, but then got “Let’s Be Cops” instead. We’ve also watched “Tammy,” which I thought was great; I do love Melissa McCarthy, though! 🙂 I hate that you are having to deal with this injury, but I’m so thrilled to hear that you have things like Jamba Juice bowls and great friends to cheer you up! Hope you get back at it soon and thanks so much for linking up with the blog again this week!

    • Thank you so much for your sweet comment! It totally made my morning! 🙂 How was “Let’s Be Cops”?

I hope you had a happy holiday and that you get to do something fun for New Years!

      • Well, let’s just say that “Let’s Be Cops” would probably entertaining if you’re laid up and can’t do a whole lot – ha! It was good, and there were plenty of funny parts (I watch The New Girl, so I’m already familiar with the comedy of the two characters), but it’s not award-winning material, you know? 😉 It’s worth watching, I suppose; we like high school humor – ha! Thanks so much for the comment and I hope YOU get to do something for NYE!! Folks should just come over and crash your house… 😉

    • Yeah I have to say I was a little impressed with the selection of movies I had! Normally there are a lot of movies not worth watching, but this was a pretty good bunch!

  4. Hi from Tara’s Weekend Update Linkup. I really want to watch the Interview – they are showing it at a small theater in DC, so hopefully I’ll get a chance to see it on the big screen. This past week I binged watched Parenthood and Marco Polo. I watched Grudgematch recently with the bf – it was funnier than expected.

    • Hey there! Thanks for stopping by! I LOVE Parenthood and am so sad that it’s ending! Do you know if it’s completely over now or just on break before the last few episodes air? I haven’t seen it on for awhile.
