5 Things Friday: My Top 5 Favorite Songs in 2014

Hey there!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your friends and family. My Christmas started off at around 4:30am in the hospital emergency room. Yes, if you’re keeping track, that’s my second ER visit in the last week. Turns out the car accident I got into last Sunday was a little more serious than I originally thought.

Turns out, I actually have a mild concussion to go along with my neck and back sprain. YAY! And for the real kicker, the medicine they have me on makes me feel really nauseous and dizzy, which is something I didn’t know, hence why I ended up in the ER on Christmas morning.

I had some X-rays and an exam done and turns out, all is well, but I wanted to give a little bit of an update before I jumped into my Friday Favorites post. Please forgive me if this doesn’t make any sense at all or if there are some typos. I’m just insanely bored and have already finished a book (“Someday, Someday, Maybe” by Lauren Graham) and watched 9 movies (The Interview, If I Stay, Begin Again, 22 Jump Street, The Other Woman, The 12 Dates of Christmas, Tammy, Chasing Christmas and one other Christmas movie I don’t remember the name of) in the last couple of days, so I wanted to do something a little bit more back to my normal routine. Bare with me on this one people! 🙂

So, I found this new feature in Spotify where they will compile a list of the songs you listened to most in the year and thought it would be perfect to share for my Friday Favorites!

1. “We Are Tonight” by Billy Currington

2. “Comeback Story” by Kings of Leon

3. “Pompeii” by Bastille

4. “XO” by John Mayer

5. “Love Runs Out” by OneRepublic

I know I’m a couple of days late announcing this, but here we go! The winner of the Pro Compression socks is Kaylin at Enticing Healthy Eating. I will be contacting you shortly to get the necessary information from you to claim your prize. Congrats!

Questions of the Day:

What did you do to celebrate Christmas?

Are any of your favorite songs from 2014 the same as mine?

  1. I hope you are doing better….thats sounds awful and no way to start your Christmas. I hope you get some rest and do lots of papering 🙂

I watched 12 dates of Christmas the other day too….oh my another classic not so good ABC Family movie. Can’t complain – it did a good job of putting me to sleep. I also didn’t know about that feature in Spotify…I am going to take a look now!

    • Thank you so much for your well wishes! It wasn’t the best way to spend Christmas, that’s for sure! I’m thinking I’m due for a mani/pedi when I start feeling better! I hope you had a better Christmas than I did!!!

That’s so funny that you watched that movie also! It’s not the greatest, but definitely a cute Christmas movie to pass the time! Did you have a chance to check out that feature in Spotify? What songs were on your list?

        • Sorry for the delay getting back to you with this! They used to have it set up where you could find it with the click of a button, but now that option seems to have went away. I did some research and it looks like you can still find it by clicking “top lists” in the left hand column under the “main” section. Then just switch the region to “for me” and then select “tracks.” Mine seems to still be a little messed up when I do it that way though also since I only have a couple showing up, but maybe it will work better for you. Hopefully this works for you! Let me know if you need help with it! 🙂

  2. Hope you’re feeling a lot better soon, make sure you get lots of rest that helps concussions heal faster. Great list however i encourage you to please not use spotify or Pandora they do not pay musicians enough in royalties to justify having their music on their services, even the mega stars. Working class musicians like myself are not getting the royalties even if you play our music. Please check out irespectmusic.org and sign the petition and help support the artists you love get paid properly for their hard work by having congress change the laws governing music royalties. The laws haven’t been revised in many, many years and now with people streaming instead of buying music we can’t pay our bills let alone make new music for fans to enjoy.
    Have a great weekend!

  3. I’m sorry to hear you’re not doing any better. That’s awful. You have a great attitude, though.

For Christmas, we made a nice breakfast after opening gifts, went to see “Unbroken,” and then went out for dinner.

I love that John Mayer cover of “XO” too!

    • Thanks so much! I’m back at work today but still feeling crummy. 😦

Sounds like you had a fun Christmas though! How was “Unbroken”?

      Isn’t “XO” the best?!!?
