Make Me Happy Monday 11.03.14 + Nuun Giveaway Winner!

Hello everyone!

Do you know what time it is? It’s time for Make Me Happy Monday where I share all of the things that are making me smile lately in hopes to bring a smile to your face or give you an idea of something fun to check out! So let’s dig in!

The thing I am loving most lately is spending time with my favorite people. Quality time with the people I love most is truly good for the soul. I was able to spend some quality time with my friends Jenica and Matt on Friday for Halloween and it was such a blast. I always have such a good time with them and so lucky to call them my friends. They have been by my side through so much and I don’t know what I would do without them.

Okay, I’m done being sappy now, so let’s move on to our costumes! I dressed up as an ’80’s aerobics instructor, Jenica was a pirate and Matt was a sock monkey.

Source here.

Here’s what a sock monkey is, in case you didn’t know, because you surely can’t see his costume in this photo!

Clearly we’re experts at taking awesome photos because this is the only shot we have of the three of us from the evening. #Fail

Here’s a full shot of my costume, if you were wondering what my completed outfit looked like. I’m taking my hatred of wearing real pants to a new extreme. I managed to find a way to make workout leggings a socially appropriate clothing option to wear to a party. Some may call that talent. I’m not sure if I should be proud or ashamed.

Speaking of spending time with people I love, I spent Saturday with my mom, aunt and uncle which always makes for a good time. I learned how to hand stitch so I could help my aunt some more on the bubble quilt she is making for my cousins little ones.

Here’s a shot of what it looked like from the front. It’s adorable but INSANELY time consuming.

Now as you may remember, I’m absolutely obsessed with the vegan chocolate mousse from Whole Foods. I decided to try to recreate it at home using this recipe from It became very apparent that I have not in fact quit sugar and still need sugar in my life when I mixed this up and tasted it! I ended up adding about a cup of powdered sugar into it to try to sweeten it up, which only sort of worked. It turned out okay, but I’m still on the hunt for the perfect homemade vegan chocolate mousse recipe, so if you know of a good one, let me know!

I also spent time with Anthony and Katie this weekend for the Get Your Rear In Gear 5k on Sunday. I’ll be posting a full review of this tomorrow. 🙂

I’m also really loving being a part of the Sweat Pink Ambassador community. It’s been one of the most positive experiences I’ve had the privilege of being a part of so far. Everyone is so inspiring and I’m learning so much from my Sweat Pink sisters! I received my pink shoelaces and this super cute postcard in the mail, so I’m officially an ambassador now!

I was shocked to say the least to see a personalized welcome message from SweatPink founders Alyse and Jamie when I flipped over the card. That beyond made my day! How sweet is that?!?! LOVE IT! ❤

After I finished “The Best of Me” by Nicholas Sparks a couple of weeks ago, I ordered a bunch of new books from my list. I had to wait a couple of weeks to get them in the mail because “Grace’s Guide: The Art of Pretending to Be a Grow-up” by YouTuber Grace Helbig hadn’t been released yet so Amazon was holding the rest of my books hostage! Turns out that Grace’s book was just named a New York Time’s number 1 best selling book, so it looks like I have good taste in books! I’ve started reading “Mile Markers” by Kristin Armstrong from Runner’s World and am loving it so far.

I’ve been beyond obsessed with the new Taylor Swift album since I picked it up last Tuesday. It’s the only thing I’ve been listening to! My favorite songs so far are “Style”, “Blank Space”, “Shake It Off” (<—Obvi.), “Out of the Woods” and “All You Had to Do Was Stay.” So basically I love the whole thing! Haha! I think it’s interesting that she decided to completely ditch the country music scene, but I’m loving her new sound too, so I can’t complain too much.

Speaking of music, I’m also loving this song by Maddie & Tae. It’s so catchy and fun!

Another thing that I’m loving this week is hearing your comments about why you like Nuun Hydration! Speaking of Nuun Hydration, the winner of the giveaway is:
